The world premiere of contemporary composer Max Richter’s new piece, Voices.
Max Richter’s new project, co-commissioned by the Barbican, is written for an orchestra with radically reimagined instrumentation. Known for his experimental post-minimalist style, mixing electronic and classical sounds in his work, Richter has written for film, opera and ballet as well as an eight-hour piece intended to be listened to overnight titled Sleep. With this new commission, Richter continues his established relationship with the Barbican having most recently co-curated Sounds and Visions, a weekend of music and image, with artist Yulia Mahr in May 2018.
